So, Kenny G Has A Board Game, Now?

June 26, 2019

We at Geeks A Gogo love tabletop gaming. We also love Jazz. And we're a little confused, but quite intrigued to see that Kenny G now has his own board game, Keepin' it Saxy. The folks at Big G Creative, who brought us the amazing Bob Ross Art of Chill (which we love), have released this new game featuring popular saxophonist, Kenny G. It may sound a bit, odd, but that's what we thought about Art of Chill when we first saw it--and now we're intrigued in this game--the goal of which is to help Kenny G survive a hectic day.

The details from Big G Creative's press release:

During each round, players collect, trade, and match sound cards and move a lifelike Kenny G game piece through his day from morning to evening. Working as a team, players must overcome a series of setbacks faced by the smooth jazz artist like a lost wallet, a broken sax reed, a traffic jam in Malibu, running out of hair product, and mismatched socks.

“We encourage players to put on some Kenny G and sit back, relax and enjoy our new game with friends,” said Shannon Swindle, Product and Communications Manager, Big G Creative. “Kenny G has a great sense of humor, and Keepin’ It Saxy captures that sense of fun and brings a groovy time to game night.”

"I never imagined that following a day in my life would be turned into a game that is so much fun,” said Kenny G. “Keepin’ it Saxy is a great combination of what I celebrate in life: Music, laughter, and spending time with friends and family.”

As players work together to complete events, they try to maintain their stash of Groove Tokens. If players finish the last round and still have at least one token on the board, players win. For added fun, players can scat out the riffs on the cards when they complete an event. Don’t be surprised to hear friends say, “Biddle Scoodily Bop!” when they make a move.

Keepin’ It Saxy contains one Kenny G mover, a game board, 16 groove tokens, 62 sax cards, 36 event cards, three dice, one first player marker and instructions. Perfect for parties and jazzy nights, the game takes an average of thirty minutes to complete. Available exclusively at Target stores nationwide and Target.com. SRP $19.99.
