(Chicago) Southgate Media Group is hosting the Fourth Annual SMG Podcast Marathon as a celebration of independent podcasts and the creativity of the podcast community. The marathon will be at the Blue Box Cafe, 176 E Chicago St, Elgin, IL 60120 on September 29, 2018.
The SMG Podcast Marathon is a live podcast event presented by Southgate Media Group and the Blue Box Cafe. The marathon will be 13 hours long featuring original content consisting of 20+ podcasts performed live at the Blue Box and streaming on the Southgate Media Group YouTube Channel.
The SMG Podcast Marathon is all about celebrating indie podcasts and creativity. Our marathon connects seasoned and newer podcasters alike, to each other and to the fans of podcasts. It’s a chance for people to see their favorite podcasts live, and hopefully discover some new favorites. The marathon is made up of podcasts (both independent or as part of other indie networks) that cover a wide variety of topics and styles. There is no formula to creating a great podcast and the SMG Podcast Marathon is dedicated to highlighting the diversity of expression that the podcast landscape holds.

It’s about creativity, and expression, and the independent spirit, not a means of showcasing corporate produced content and agendas. It’s about having fun in a great setting and geeking out to your passions. The SMG Podcast Marathon is what happens when podcasters that are truly excited about their interests get a chance to share first hand with fans that are just as passionate about their own,” said Southgate Media Group co-founder Robert Southgate.
The marathon will run Saturday, September 29, 2018 starting at 8am and will end at 9pm at the Blue Box Cafe, 176 E Chicago St, Elgin, IL 60120. Tickets are free (with a suggested donation of $10.)
