Northwest Indiana Comic Con - 2018

Geeks a Gogo was back for the Northwest Indiana Comic Con's event for 2018--marking this convention's 5th year! This year was just as big and as fun as expected for its fifth outing, and we've got lots of photos from the event. This year, Geeks a Gogo was one of the sponsors of the event, since we love kicking off our comic-con-going year with this event.

First of all, there were a lot of great vendors again this year--lots of comic book shops from the area that had some nice offerings--from back issues, to modern variant covers. Among the many vendors were Creative Comics, and Tenth Planet Comics, who had some great deals for collectors. Comics Elite had some great issues for collectors of rare variant covers--even some signed issues of the recent DC Metal series that has been widely popular. Many other vendors were selling things like toys, games, and crafts.

What's most often a draw at NWI, though, is the large presence of local artists and writers who are there to present their comics, novels, and artwork. This year, we were surprised to see quite a few novelists, including Mandy Madrox, Greg Thompson--whose work we've reviewed before, and Mark Cusco Ailes. Being gamers, we were happy to meet the folks from Imagning Games and pick up a copy of their RPG, Dreamchaser. We even saw a few cosplayers, such as HDC Cosplay and Fabrication, and Wolfgar Weapons and Props. Check out some pictures from the floor:

But, of course, many go to see the cosplay. NWI has a great cosplay contest every year with some great prizes for the winners. And even those walking the floor of the event who didn't enter the contest really had some amazing costumes this year, as always.

Take a look at our gallery of cosplayers fro the event:

We had a blast at this year's event, just like every year. If you're looking to attend future NWI comic con events, make sure to buy your tickets online to speed up entry. This is a great family event conveniently located less than an hour from Chicago in Schererville, IN. Get there early. This event is extremely popular, and there is always a line to get it. See you there next year.
