Zombie Monday
The Starz television show 'Ash vs the Evil Dead,' which featured cult favorite Bruce Campbell reprising his iconic role from the 'Evil Dead' films, is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on Aug. 23, according to online sources. The series, which includes 10 episodes, came out last year and is scheduled to begin its second season in October.
Although the original Evil Dead was a straight horror film with trace elements of humor, the sequels became progressively more comedic. The series, judging from the first episode, seems to attempt a merger of the approaches.
Whether or not the Deadites could be considered zombies is debatable. They are more like people, living and dead, that are possessed. But the Evil Dead films have always been about entertainment and style first -- not a bad thing if approached with finesse.
